statement
i work with the figure in oil paint and ceramic. what holds my attention is how self-protection registers in the body: in a gesture made without thinking, in stillness, in tension held beneath the surface. i am interested in moments when performance loosens and presence becomes visible.
bio
born in uganda in 1975 to dutch aid workers, i grew up between ethiopia, the united states, and the netherlands. painting entered my life at twelve and stayed.
